Beaches in Fairfield Connecticut

Fairfield, Connecticut is home to some of the most beautiful beaches along the Long Island Sound shoreline. Five popular waterfront destinations are situated along five miles of coastline where locals and tourists can bathe in the sun and swim in the sea. These five beaches are Jennings Beach, Penfield Beach, Sasco Beach, Southport Beach and South Pine Creek Beach. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, seasonal parking permits or beach stickers can be acquired. Some of the beaches provide a daily pass that can be purchased upon arrival. All of the beaches in Fairfield Connecticut have lifeguards at scheduled times between these two holidays.

Jennings Beach, located right off Interstate 95 at 880 South Benson Road, is the largest of the five beaches in Fairfield. With 27 acres of sand, this beach is located near the South Benson Boat Marina where benches are accessible to visitors so they can watch the boats pass by. Fishermen can be found fishing off a rocky pier that extends into the Sound. There is a large concession stand that provides a bit of shade along with food and beverage for sale, picnic tables, bathroom facilities and outdoor showers to rinse off the sand. Along the beach you can find sailboat and kayak racks, picnic tables next to charcoal grills and volleyball nets are set up while in-season. Across the parking lot is home to the “Sandcastle Playground” which is a sizeable park area where kids can be found playing all year round. A Skate Park is also available to older kids who enjoy bringing their skateboards, rollerblades and bikes. Swim lessons are offered in the Summer along with family events such as “Sand Jam Family Fun Dance” where a DJ performs while kids compete for places and prizes by building sand creations. “Bonfire on the Beach” is a popular annual event and families come here from all over to view the town’s 4th of July fireworks.

Penfield Beach, located at 323 Fairfield Beach Road, has 3.5 acres of beachfront property. Visitors have access to a concession stand that sells food and beverages, handicap accessible bathroom facilities, sailboat racks, picnic tables and charcoal grills. Lockers are available to rent during beach season and two waterfront banquet facilities are located on this property as beautiful scenic locations for weddings or other special occasions. Penfield Beach is also home to one of the 26 playgrounds built to honor a victim of the Sandy Hook shooting.

Although Sasco Beach, located at 1401 Sasco Hill Road, boasts 9.9 acres of land, this remote beach can only be accessed by residents or anyone who has purchased a beach sticker for the summer. There are no daily fees available. There are no bathroom facilities or concessions stands. The two remaining beaches are of much smaller size. Southport Beach, located at 1505 Pequot Avenue, is about 2.5 acres. During the beach season, this location offers a concession stand and bathroom facilities. South Pine Creek Beach is located at 1424 South Pine Creek Road and is the smallest of the four beaches located in Fairfield. Again, only residents with beach stickers can access this beach.
