Fairfield, Connecticut has been home to many famous people throughout the years. Some were born in town while others were born elsewhere, but their families moved to Fairfield in order to raise their children in what most consider a safe and healthy environment. There are many Famous People Who Grew Up in Fairfield! Then there were others who found it to be a beautiful location to settle down in later in life. It is an easy location to live a low-profile life outside of the limelight of Los Angeles and New York City. Actors, musicians and athletes alike have often found a quiet escape in the New England town.

A notable name would be actress Meg Ryan. Originally named Margaret Mary Emily Anne Hyra in 1961, she was born and raised in Fairfield, Connecticut. She attended St. Pius X Elementary School before moving to Bethel, Connecticut during her high school years. Her film career began in 1981 when she turned to acting as a form of income while in college. Her first starring role that put her name in the spotlight was “When Harry Met Sally”. She went on to act in many roles but is known most notably for her performances in “Sleepless in Seattle” and “You’ve Got Mail”, acting as the lead lady across from Tom Hanks.

Although he was born in Pennsylvania, professional NFL athlete Joe Nameth resided in Fairfield, Connecticut for many years. Nameth spent most of his career playing for the New York Jets and earned a Super Bowl ring when the Jets beat the Baltimore Colts in 1969. After his long-time career in the NFL, Nameth starred in a few films and television shows, often as himself.

At one point in time, James Blake ranked fourth in the world as a tennis player. Born in New York City, Blake’s family moved to Fairfield when he was a little boy. Although he now resides on the West Coast, Blake has always had nothing but good thinks to say about his upbringing in Fairfield, Connecticut and he still visits the town to see family and friends on occasion.

Musician John Mayer was born in Bridgeport and raised in Fairfield. Both of his parents were local schoolteachers. When he was 13 years old, Mayer found interest in playing the guitar and after a few years of lessons, went on to find great success in the industry. His name and music have topped charts all over the world and have earned him 7 Grammy awards throughout his career.

Husband and wife, Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, moved to Fairfield, Connecticut after successful careers in the music industry. As founders of the Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club, these Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees were popular in the 1980s. Having enjoyed a rock and roll lifestyle for a very long time, they decided to slow down a bit later in life. Finding refuge in Fairfield, Connecticut, they very much enjoyed the quiet, peaceful town.
